THE ORIGINS OF HALLOWEEN
Halloween is a pagan festivity celebrated on October 31st.The origin of Halloween are ancient:go back when France,Ireland,Scottland and England were dominated by the culture of the Celts.For the Celtic culture the new year began on November 1st,when officially ended the hot season and started cold and darkness season.At the end of October,work in the field was over and the farmers could finely relax in their house.This is the excuse to organize the eve of 1° November,the most important holiday of the year,a New Year dedicated to "Samhain" a deity.The Celts belived that on the eve of every new year "Samhain" called to himself all the spirits of the dead.The allowing souls to show himself and comunicate with living.The night of October 31st the Celts were in woods for a ceremony and returning at village with mask and lighting their way with lanterns made of carved onion.Between 1845 and 1850 for a disease about 700.000 Irish emigrated to USA binging with them their custom,including that of celebrating of Halloween.In the USA Halloween has lost its religious meaning and ritual, and is an opportunity to organize party
